The Prodigy - take me to the hospital Where do i begin? A very talented group of boys who use dance/electronica music to convey thoughts and ideas. The artists in the video are portrayed as Maniacs who rebel against the system. Screaming into the camera to get their point accross powerfully giving the audience goose bumps as we all emerse in the song. Wearing casual, dirty tank tops and chains from their jeans show they dont care what people think, but just to be happy the way you are. Straying from the normal ''airbrush'' effect all artists seem to have. This is all to do with fighting the rules, rebeling against those who tell you what to do when they are wrong. Not exactly role models for the kids, but encourages those who have a strong opinions to be loud and let their voices be heard. The lyrics of the video are shown through-out the song, as the Prodigy boys exxaggerate the word ''Hospital'', the video will cut to a scene of an ambulance. The video suits the lyrics. This is a randomly put together video, the boys have thought long and hard about what scenes they want to show and in which order to show them in. Concentrating on the prodigy and the prodigy only. No invaders just them and some raved up bunnies. Set in England, classic brick walls and the well known ambulance we see everyday around are portrayed through out the video. To bring back the grime and washed up violence and themes of breaking the law back to the modern day mainstream to give the people stuck in ''One Direction'' world a small kick up the backside.
What I’ve done – Linkin Park What I’ve done by the Nu-metal band Linkin Park has a very clever and powerful video to go alongside it. The boys represent themselves as they are put on top of black stages in a barren desert. Cinematography screens around the band as they perform their song. Wearing all black and army boots, Chester Bennington the lead singer shows his rebellious side that the whole band also have as he has a black mo-hawk thin and spiky. Linkin park are all about singing in regards to real issues and real emotions that people may have. With their 2nd latest album, Minutes to Midnight released in 2008, The band tell us that this album is the most different from all the previous music releases they have done before, using experimental sounds and interesting chorus’s to get their point across. The lyrics in What I’ve Done don’t have exact representation like a mainstream song such as Pixie Lott who basically points at and shows images of what she is singing. The Linkin Park guys show images of World issues such as pollution which is a strong theme through out the video. Opening the song with an image of grass with the camera zoomed in, fresh earth and the fast forward button held down so the audience can see the grass grow at a savage rate. To show a new lease of life, then the finishing scene relates back to the opening as the shots of the grass growing is rewound. This video is all about Linkin Park, other than a few ill covered pigeons there is no other animal or human life activity going on. We are fully concentrating on Linkin Park and no one else... maybe the oil covered pigeons but other wise...An all together powerful and moving song that hints at us, the audience to stop killing the planet and to rock out.
Bloc party - FLUX The boys in BLOC PARTY have been very clever with their next song, Flux. Represented by power ranger monsters, you all know the ones. Portrayed with the classic yet unknown image of huge, badly-made-monster-costume men fighting in slow motion over the city, which has been shrunk and all the buildings are made out of cardboard and polystyrene. The windows on the miniature building are made out of plastic sheets as well. It’s a commonly used image in movies such as Crank, starring the gorgeous Jason Statham. You’d think at first glance it’s a budget video but if you actually look at the amount of work that’s gone into the video, it would of cost a lot more than you think. Id say the Bloc Party boys wanted to convey the theme of nonsense of the word Flux by using the power ranger monster fight scenes. It’s quite a fun and childish video yet quite enjoyable to watch even for adults. Aimed at teenagers and young adults the fun and recklessness nature of the video attracts us all, maybe that’s why Bloc Party are so popular, they don’t take themselves too seriously. Revolving around the Bloc Party and no other artists within the video, they are all we concentrate on, well their music and trying to figure what’s actually going on with their story line. We all want to know what the power ranger monsters are fighting about and what one out of the two of them is going to win after we watch the two of them crash into numerous building and crush numerous miniature cars. This video cant help but make us all smile. |
